Supporting Het BehouT: A Dutch Foundation That Promotes Circularity

Based in Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, Het BehouT is located close to our Alphen graphics production plant. It repurposes and reuses donated wooden materials, transforming them into garden furniture, benches, and other unique wooden products.

"Het BehouT’s work serves as an excellent example of how repurposing resources can be an effective way to help promote circularity in our local communities, and supporting them is a very good fit with our own sustainability commitment at Avery Dennison. That’s why we wanted to help.”
-  Fred van Hees (Senior Process Engineer)

The Avery Dennison Alphen team has been donating old wooden pallets and other wooden packaging materials, ensuring that they are reused and diverted away from landfills and incineration. They also encouraged Het BehouT to apply for the Avery Dennison Foundation Granting Wishes Scheme.

“Thanks to the Granting Wishes program, Avery Dennison donated 10,000 dollars so that Het BehouT could progress further with their work on circularity. We also celebrated our collaboration in February by visiting Het BehouT and taking part in a fun team-building activity.”
- Janos Boehm (Plant Manager)

The result of the team-building day was a newly built wooden bench, which was donated to a local youth center, and a table that now has a place of pride in the plant’s canteen.
